2026 Global PBL (Global Project-Based Learning): International Collaborative Social Problem-Solving Project
Past Events | September 11, 2026
From September 5 to 10, 2026, Toyohashi University of Technology (TUT) conducted its first Global Project-Based Learning (PBL) program on Tuba Island, Malaysia.
This new program was jointly organized by TUT, Shinshu University, and Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) to develop practical engineers with a global perspective who can thrive on the international stage.
Five undergraduate students from TUT participated in the program. Through homestays, interactions with local residents, and fieldwork, the students deepened their understanding of the local community, gathered information, and analyzed local challenges. Based on their findings, they developed concrete solutions and presented their proposals.
Participants shared their reflections on the experience, including the following comments:
- The program included so many activities and discussions that five days could hardly contain them all. Through the various experiences and lessons I gained along the way, I grew tremendously in a very short period of time.
- I came to realize that collaboration and teamwork are not simply about doing something together. They also involve each person understanding what they can contribute, taking initiative, and learning from one another.
