2026 Thailand Overseas Training Program: Survey of SDGs-Related Research Activities at KMITL
Past Events | September 8, 2026
From August 31 to September 7, 2026, Toyohashi University of Technology (TUT) conducted an overseas training program in Bangkok, Thailand.
The program was piloted to help students develop the ability to identify and address social challenges and communicate information in English through research into SDGs-related activities and interaction with local students.
A total of five TUT students participated in the program: two undergraduates and three master's students. On August 31, they attended the TUT Thailand Alumni Reunion in Bangkok. The following day, they visited KOSEN-KMITL, where they deepened their engagement with local students by observing classes, touring facilities, and participating in hands-on workshops.
At KMITL EXPO 2026, hosted by King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), the students visited research booths to learn about the background of various research projects, their connections to social challenges, and the processes leading to research outcomes. At the TUT booth, they also introduced the research activities of the Institute for Research on Next-generation Semiconductor and Sensing Science (IRES²) and promoted TUT to local students.
During the program, some participants contracted influenza and adjusted their schedules to rest and recover. Through this unexpected experience, the students gained practical insights into overseas health management, emergency preparedness, and the importance of travel insurance.
On October 2, 2026, the participating students presented their experiences and achievements at a training report session attended by TUT President Akihiro Wakahara and Executive Director Jimbo.
