Past Events | September 4, 2026
From August 16 to 28, 2026, Toyohashi University of Technology (TUT) conducted an overseas training program primarily in Penang, Malaysia, for TUT students and students from Colleges of Technology (KOSEN) across Japan.
A total of 34 students participated in the program: 7 undergraduate students from TUT, 25 students from 10 KOSEN institutions nationwide, and 2 master's students who served as facilitators. The program included a safety briefing by the Consulate-General of Japan in Penang, English language training, a hackathon at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), interaction with local university students, company visits, and a cultural tour of George Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Participants shared their reflections on the experience, including the following comments:
- I realized that passion knows no national or regional boundaries, and the world felt much closer to me.
- I was impressed by how actively the local students engaged in discussions, expressed and organized their ideas, and demonstrated excellent presentation skills.
- Having experienced life overseas, I feel that the psychological barrier to going abroad has become much lower.
