On February 4, 2026, a delegation of eight members led by Mr. WISANU SAPSOMBAT, Deputy Secretary-General of the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC), Ministry of Education of the Kingdom of Thailand, visited Toyohashi University of Technology (TUT). The purpose of the visit was to pay a courtesy call on President Akihiro Wakahara and to follow up on Mr. WONGPANITKRIT PUNAKRIT, who enrolled in April 2025 in the Master's Program in Department of Computer Science and Engineering at TUT under the Thai Government Scholarship Program.

The courtesy visit was attended by Executive Vice President Mitsuteru Inoue, who, during his tenure at the National Institute of Technology (KOSEN), was in charge of the Thai Government Scholarship Program and the KOSEN project in Thailand. The visiting delegation consisted of officials responsible for various areas related to Princess Chulabhorn Science High Schools (PCSHS), prestigious science-focused high schools in Thailand named after Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn. During the meeting, the delegation expressed their expectations not only for continued dispatch of scholarship students to TUT under the Thai Government Scholarship Program, but also for TUT to serve as a prospective destination for PCSHS graduates pursuing self-funded study in Japan. Active discussions were also held on further strengthening student exchange and enhancing cooperation in Japan-Thailand educational collaboration.

As part of the follow-up for the scholarship student, the delegation met with Associate Professor Ryota Nishimura of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, who serves as the student's academic supervisor. They discussed the student's academic progress and career aspirations. The delegation also expressed their hope that TUT would provide support, leveraging its network, for employment opportunities at Japanese-affiliated companies in Thailand after completion of the master's program.
