The Summer English Challenge 2023, organized by the Toyohashi International Association, was held from August 2 (Wed.) to 4 (Fri.), with the participation of the International Exchange Club CALL, the Carbon Neutral Study Group, the Student Support General Center, and Head Quarter of SDGs Promotion from our university.

19 students from junior high and high schools in the city and 4 international students from Toyohashi University of Technology (from Afghanistan, Indonesia, Brazil, and Germany) participated in this event and experienced various activities using English.

On the first day, the students deepened exchanges with international students of TUT through outdoor cooking and games at the Toyohashi City Youth Center for Natural Studies in Ikobe-cho, Toyohashi City.

On second day, following the introduction of the university and a tour of the campus, five teams competed against each other in a Finnish throwing sport called "Mölkky," which was arranged using the elements of the SDGs (17 goals, no one left behind, etc.) created by the Carbon Neutral Study Group. The participants deepened their understanding of the SDGs as well as their interaction with each other through the game, such as memorizing the goals of the SDGs written in English as a team with foreign students, and were able to interact in English while having fun until the end of the event.
