Japanese Government Scholarship (Embassy Recommendation)

Japanese Embassies and Consulate Generals (hereafter referred to as Japanese embassies) recruit students for Japanese Government (MEXT) scholarship by request from Japanese Government (MEXT). Since details such as application periods and qualifications differ by countries, applicants should check information from Japanese Embassy in your country.

2019 Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship (Embassy Recommendation)

Please read the following procedures and inquire at the office in charge if you have applied for the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship for 2019 (Research Student), have successfully completed the preliminary examination at the Japanese Embassy (Consulate Office) in your country, and wish to study at TUT.

Applications for 2019 academic year should be submitted to us by August 24. It may take long to issue a letter of acceptance, therefore we advise you to contact us as soon as you pass the preliminary examination.

We also strongly recommend that you clearly tell us that you are an applicant for the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship for 2019 and that you have passed the preliminary examination when you make an inquiry.

(1) Please find a supervisor from the list of researchers posted on the webpages below.

(2) Please provide us with the following information

  1. Name
  2. Nationality
  3. Current university or company name
  4. Desired academic supervisor
  5. Deadline for submission of Letter of Provisional Acceptance for 2019 to the Japanese Embassy in your country
  6. Contact details (e-mail, fax or telephone number)

(3) Please send the following documents to the office in charge by e-mail.

① List of Required Documents
  1. Certificate of preliminary selection issued by the embassy
  2. Application Form (a prescribed form)
  3. Placement Preference Form (a prescribed form)(If any)
  4. Field of Study and Research Program Plan (a prescribed form)
  5. Academic transcript of each academic year of the last university attended (issued by the university attended)
  6. Graduation certificate or degree certificate of the last university attended (or an attested document certifying that the applicant will graduate from the school, where applicable)
  7. Recommendation from the principal or the adviser of the last university attended
  8. Medical Certificate
  9. Abstracts of theses
  10. Recommendation from the present employer (If applicant is currently employed.)

  • Please gather sufficient information in advance about the graduate schools suitable for your objectives of research and study; whether they offer a suitable course and/or they have the faculty members you wish to be supervised by. We recommend that you investigate these items carefully so that there is no discrepancy between your objectives and possible research you can take after you enroll.
  • Please be advised that the process of your document evaluation at our university will take certain period of time, especially during summer holidays.
  • We will post "Letter of Provisional Acceptance for 2019" to the address listed on "Application form", if you pass the evaluation. In case you are rejected, we will inform you of the result by e-mail.
