Japanese Government Scholarship (Embassy Recommendation)

Japanese Embassies and Consulate Generals (hearinafter referred to "Japanese diplomatic missions") recruit students for Japanese Government (MEXT) scholarship by request from Japanese Government (MEXT). Since details such as application periods and qualifications differ by countries, applicants should check information from the Japanese diplomatic missions in your country.

The following is the information for those who have passed the first screening by the Japanese diplomatic mission.

2020 Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship (Embassy Recommendation)

Please read the following procedures and inquire at the office in charge if you have applied for the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship for 2020 (Research Student), have successfully passed the first screening at the Japanese diplomatic mission in your country, and wish to study at TUT.

Applications for 2020 academic year should be submitted to us by September 13, 2019. It may take long to issue a letter of acceptance, therefore we advise you to contact us as soon as you pass the first screening.

We also strongly recommend that you clearly tell us that you are an applicant for the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship for 2020 and that you have passed the first screening when you make an inquiry.

(1) Please find a supervisor from the list of researchers posted on the webpages below.

(2) Please provide us with the following information

  1. Name
  2. Nationality
  3. Current university or company name
  4. Desired academic supervisor (up to 3 professors in the preferable order)
  5. Deadline for submission of Letter of Provisional Acceptance for 2020 to the Japanese diplomatic mission in your country
  6. Postal code, address, phone number, email address

(3) Please send the following documents to the office in charge by e-mail.

① Required Documents

(a) Copy of a Passing Certificate of the First Screening issued by the Japanese diplomatic mission

(b) A set of copies of the following documents submitted to the Japanese diplomatic mission among the "9. APPLICATION DOCUMENTS" that have been stamped by the Japanese diplomatic mission and returned to the applicants

① Application Form
③ Field of Study and Research Plan
④ Academic transcript for all academic year of university attended
⑤ Certificate of graduation or degree certificate of the university attended
⑥ Recommendation letter from the president/dean or the academic advisor at the current or last university attended
⑧ Abstracts of theses (*Only if submitted to the Japanese diplomatic mission)
⑨ Certificate of language proficiency (*Only if submitted to the Japanese diplomatic mission)
⑩ Recommendation letter from the present employer (*Only if submitted to the Japanese diplomatic mission

(4) IMPORTANT NOTES

  • Please gather sufficient information in advance about the graduate schools suitable for your objectives of research and study; whether they offer a suitable course and/or they have the faculty members you wish to be supervised by. We recommend that you investigate these items carefully so that there is no discrepancy between your objectives and possible research you can take after you enroll.
  • Please be advised that the process of your document evaluation at our university will take certain period of time, especially during summer holidays.
  • We will send "Letter of Provisional Acceptance for 2020" to your registered address, if you pass the evaluation. In case you are rejected, we will inform you of the result by e-mail.
