On Monday, April 13, Jussi Pihlajamäki, Vice Rector, Research and Innovation, and Hauta-Kasari, 1st Vice Dean, Faculty of Science, Forestry and Technology at the University of Eastern Finland--one of our partner institutions--paid a courtesy visit to our university.
The purpose of this visit was to identify new joint research partners in preparation for applying for EU research grants.
President Wakahara, Vice President Nakauchi, Director Sawada of the Institute for Research on Next-generation Semiconductor and Sensing Science (IRES²), and Professor Uehara of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. In a cordial atmosphere, a wide-ranging exchange of views took place regarding future collaboration opportunities between the two universities.
In the morning, guided by Professor Uehara, the delegation toured three laboratories specializing in neuroscience and robotics (the Uehara Laboratory, the Tamura Laboratory, and the Horiuchi Laboratory). In the afternoon, guided by Professor Sawada, they inspected the Institute for Research on Next-Generation Semiconductor and Sensor Science (IRES²).
