Students Invited from Malaysia for Hands-On Experience in Mobile Robotics Technology
Past Events | November 20, 2024
In recent years, there have been growing expectations in Malaysia for the application of robot technology in a variety of fields. In this program, six university students and a teacher from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) were invited for seven days from November 10 to November 16 . The students experienced science and technology related to mobile robot control, which is being researched at Systems Engineering Laboratory of the Mechanical Engineering Department. After their arrival in Toyohashi on the first day, participants were introduced to the university on the second day through an orientation, campus tour, technical lectures by faculty members, and laboratory visits. Starting from the third day, the participants engaged in a hands-on technical experience in mobile robotics, which continued until the fifth day.On the afternoon of the third day, a lively exchange session was held with our university's Robocon Club, and on the fourth day, they interacted with faculty members and students, fostering active discussions. On the fifth afternoon, the participants visited two local companies specializing in the development of industrial machinery and equipment. The final presentation of their technical experience was held on the sixth day. In addition, participants explored industrial technologies and cultural heritage through visits to the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology and Nagoya Castle before returning home safely on the seventh day.Although the program lasted only a week, the invited students deepened their knowledge of mobile robotics technology and gained valuable insights into cultural differences and mutual understanding through exchanges with our students.
This activity was conducted with the support of the Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Program in Science (Sakura Science Plan) of the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to all those who contributed to its success.
