Research
French Epistemology (especially Cavailles' Mathematical Philosophy)
Theme1:Jean Cavaillès' Mathematical Philosophy
Overview
My primary research interest is in Jean Cavaillès' mathematical philosophy. In my dissertation, I studied his philosophical arguments about foundations of mathematics, history of set theory, and theory of sciences. I am also interested in his religious life and participation in the French Resistance in World War II.
I also do research into the philosophy of mathematics developed in English. My future research will investigate diverse philosophical problems in mathematics through the thought of Cavaillès.

Theme2:Philosophy of technology
Overview
Technique is not a simple application of knowledge, nor is technology a simple application of sciences. From the viewpoint of French philosopher of individuation and techniques, Gilbert Simondon, technology, which communicates with the sciences, develops nevertheless in an autonomous way. I have studied the mode of this autonomy or the technological invention with reference to the philosophical texts of Simondon.
My interest includes the style of communication between technology and sciences, and the reconsideration of Simondon's idea in the present light.

Theme3:Development of French Epistemology
Overview
Mathematics and technology, which I mentioned earlier, are faced with a lot of challenges. They originally have free creativity, but meanwhile they are restraining our freedom, (for example, security camera, information control through the Internet). These situations direct my attention to Michel Foucault's thought, which inherited the tradition of French epistemology including Cavaillès and Simondon. I'm also interested in Jean-Pierre Dupuy's "Enlightened Catastrophism".
Currently, I place mathematics / natural science on one side and literature / fiction on the other, and aim to construct a philosophy that integrates these two poles, including their relationship with society, politics, etc.
