The 2020 "NHK Student Robot Contest" and "ABU Asia-Pacific Robot Contest" were unfortunately cancelled this year due to COVID-19, but as an alternative, the "Online! Gaku-Robo FESTIVAL (Japan)" and "ABU Robocon FESTIVAL 2020 FIJI (Asia Pacific)" were held online.

The TUT Robocon team won the second place at the "Online" Gaku- Robo FESTIVAL" held on September 26, 2020, and participated in the "ABU Robocon FESTIVAL 2020 FIJI" held on December 12, 2020.

21 teams from 11 countries participated in the "ABU Robocon FESTIVAL 2020 FIJI", with teams from Toyohashi University of Technology and the University of Tokyo representing Japan. Participating teams created a video of their robot in action, and each team evaluated and voted on the video to determine the five best teams for 2020. As a result, Toyohashi University of Technology was awarded the third place.
