24 Feb 2011

EiiRIS, Electronics-Inspired Interdisciplinary Research Institute is to hold it's 7th Lunch Colloquium as follows.

Date:
Thursday, February 24th.

Time:
0:15p.m. to 1:00p.m.

Place:

Title:
New Robot Design based on the Development of Actuators

Outline:
The robot age of "one robot in every home" might be coming.

One of the technical subjects for the age is the actuator that is likened to human muscle. Electromagnetic actuators have problems such as heavy weight, restricted shape, backlash with gear. Unlike the electromagnetic principle, using piezoelectric actuator driven by friction principle, the possibility of future robots are opened.

In this seminar, I introduce the spherical ultrasonic motor that rotates a sphere like eyes, the rotary-linear actuator that freely moves an axis, and the application robots using these actuators.

Speaker:
Assistant Professor Tomoaki MASHIMO (EiiRIS)
