Toyohashi University of Technology was given an 'S Grade', the highest grade awarded to universities in the mid-term evaluation for 'Top Global University Project' adopted in 2014.

In this mid-term evaluation, the committee for the Top Global University Project composed of experts from external bodies conducted document and interview evaluations, and our university received an 'S grade', the highest grade awarded to universities, for its 'demonstrating superior efforts and a high possibility that the project's objectives will be fulfilled'. Only 6 out of 37 universities received the same mark.

To give specific examples, our definition of 'global human resources' is clear, and we are boosting engagement between international students and Japanese students to achieve this. We have also established a 'Global Technology Architects Course' and the 'TUT Global House', a dormitory for international students, to foster an ability to resolve problems from different perspectives and values and cooperation, have been offering bilingual classes taught in English and Japanese throughout the university much earlier than planned and have been numbering our syllabus and providing syllabuses in English to promote exchange with overseas universities and create a suitable environment for international students. On top of these efforts, we have actively introduced a quarterly term system, as well as double degrees and joint degrees in collaboration with overseas universities, we provide an excellent Japanese language education program for international students, and, because of the high standard of quality in our programs, it is anticipated that we foster international students with the skills to work in Japan or Japanese companies.
