Two International Conferences (ICAICTA2016/4th IGNITE) have taken place in Penang, Malaysia

The 2016 International Conference on Advanced Informatics: Concepts, Theory and Application (ICAICTA2016) and 4th International Conference of Global Network for Innovative Technology (4th IGNITE) were jointly held at Parkroyal Penang Resort, located in the seaside of Penang, Malaysia, from 17th through 18th August 2016.

IGNITE is an international conference, which TUT has organized as annual event each year in Penang, partnering with University of Science, Malaysia (USM) within the framework of the Tti-Institutional Collaborative/Cooperative Educational Reform Project carried out with the support of Nagaoka University of Technology and National Institute of Technology. The conference has been organized for the purpose of exchanging ideas on innovative technologies, this year's IGNITE has been held as its fourth gathering under the theme of ICAICTA. ICAICTA is also an annual international conference in the area of Informatics which Department of Computer Science and Engineering of TUT has partnered with Burapha University and Institut Teknologi Bandung since 2014.

A total of more than 140 researchers and students from Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia as well as Japan, has attended at the conferences with 74 presentations. As parts of the conferences' functions, there conducted the three tutorial sessions on 16th August, and cultural activities such as 'Karate' demonstration by a TUT professor, and visits to historical sites in Penang on 19th August in order to contribute to the understanding about the cultures of Malaysia and Japan. The conferences have been concluded in great success.

TUT also hold 10th TUT-USM consultative meeting during the conferences and singed a MOA on a collaborative research project between research group between TUT and USM, titled ' Tools for Heavy Metal Mitigation: Detection and Removal from the Environment in these days' . Administration and technical staffs from TUT, Nagaoka University of Technology and National Institute of Technology has also took parts in the conferences and the side activities to learn and support the management of these international activities as parts of Staff Development Program (SD).
