Research

1. Development of surface plasmon devices
New surface plasmon devices are researched and developed for processing optical signal in nano- and micro-scale communication. These devices are combined with electron devices such as MOSFET on a silicon substrate, and new photonic integrated circuits are developed.

2. Development of optical equipment
Optical equipment is developed using near infrared light for monitoring organic foreign objects in food. This equipment can detect hair, insect, bone, and so forth. In addition, equipment employing optical computer tomography is also developed to observe the inside of some fruits and vegetables.
