Toyohashi University of Technology (Toyohashi Tech) has been organizing international exchange activities since the foundation of the university through ODA projects in ASEAN countries. Toyohashi Tech has also offered a student exchange program with a university in Indonesia since 2003. This program provides students with opportunities to be exposed to an international academic atmosphere as well as to learn English communication skills and the role of engineers.

- Objective of the Programme

This yearfs seminar offers a number of activities including lectures, a workshop, an excursion, home stays and other cultural activities. It is hosted by Institute of Technology Bandung and invites students and academics from Japan. This yearfs seminar focuses on a safer and a sustainable future and the reduction of disaster risk. Participants will engage in multicultural dialogue, facilitating the exchange of ideas about the role of science and technology at the time of disaster or what they should make provision against disaster. The diversity of the participantsf background will also facilitate the discussion of social cultural factors in these socio-technical areas.

1 Purpose
This programme aims at providing the future engineers the opportunity to learn and discuss issues related to technology, environment, society, and ethics in a global context to help students work more effectively in an world without borders. This programme brings together students and academics from different countries.
2 Programme outline
The programme offers a number of activities including lectures, an industrial visit, home stays and other cultural acitivites. International University Exchange Programme for Young Engineers 2011 is hosted by Toyohashi University of Technology and Institute of Technology Bandungand. They invites students and academics from Japan and Indonesia. This year programme focuses on Toward a safer and a sustainable future: a disaster risk reduction. Therefore, participants will engage in an intercultural dialogue and the exchange of ideas about the role of science and technology to sustain the safer future against risk of disaster etc. The diversity of the participants also facilitates the discussion of social and cultural factors in these socio-technical areas.
3 Student participation
Students will have a preparation period in which they review basics before going to Indonesia. This preparation is required in order to get an active participation along the programme and particularly during the lectures, discussion and presentation. You may voluntarily contact with Indonesian participants by E-mail. Additionally, CIR(Center for International Relations of Toyohashi Tech.) provides opportunities that you learn to make a presentation by English and the methods of discussion for about 1 week. (in early September)
