Complete View of the Campus

The International Student Center was established in April 2002 as a campus-wide educational and academic research facility. The Center's main purpose is to help enhancement of international harmony by offering international exchange activities - including guidance and advice - to international students and Japanese students wishing to study abroad, students in Japanese language courses and Japanese-related studies programs, students in preparatory Japanese language training for graduates prior to admission to the Graduate School, and general support for the everyday life of the students.

Here are the major programs offered by the Center:

  1. Japanese Language and Japanese Studies Program

    • Japanese language and Japanese studies programs are provided as part of the regular curriculum of registered international students.
    • Extra-curricular Japanese language program are also offered to international students and their families, foreign researchers and lecturers to help them communicate during their daily life in Japan.

  2. Guidance and Counseling Services

    • Guidance and advisory services are provided to international students concerning problems related to their academic studies and everyday life. Advisors can be consulted in the counseling room during the counseling hours. An appointment for off-hours counseling can be made by e-mail.
    • The Center also offers preliminary and post guidance to Japanese students who wish to study abroad.

  3. Preliminary Japanese Language Intensive Program

    • The Center offers preliminary Japanese language training courses mainly for Japanese Government Scholarship students prior to the commencement of their studies in the Graduate School. The courses begin in April and October and last for six months.
