The International Cooperation Center for Engineering Education Development (ICCEED) was established in April 2001. There already have been five institutes for international cooperation in four different fields established in Japan, and ICCEED is the first and only center for the engineering education field.
Our mission is to devise the most effective and efficient methodology for international cooperation in engineering education, while also providing practical supports to governmental organizations and other institutions executing international cooperation. To perform our missions, we have two divisions: the Division of Network and Database Development and the Division of Project Development.
The Division of Network and Database Development works to construct intellectual and human resource databases, which enable efficient and effective international cooperation and form an international cooperation consortium of universities, colleges of technology, academic societies, international sections in the government and other public offices and private bodies involved in international cooperation.
The Division of Project Development works to devise theory, methods and techniques of comprehensive and practical project development that take into consideration the impact on socio-economic development. In addition, this division develops evaluation methods for education projects, using quality control theory, system engineering, optimization theory, and so on.
ICCEED places priority on the following five items, described below, for a middle-term strategic action plan:
