The Technology Development Center was established in 1980 to promote collaborative research with companies and research institutes. In addtion, it also provides for the retraining of teachers in technical colleges and technical high schools as well as, technical education for those already in the industry.

   Activities:

(1) Promotion of collaborative research

The Technology Development Center accepts project studies for collaborative research with companies, visiting professors and professors from other universities. The project members are granted the privilege of priority use of the facilities.

(2) Industrial community service

The Technology Development Center conducts industrial community service as followings.

  • Technical seminars
  • Technical forums in partnership with industry, academia and government
  • Technical consultations
  • Dispatching lecturers for meetings
  • Participation in technical fairs

(3) Retraining service

The Technology Development Center conducts retraining projects for technical college and technical high school teachers and industrial engineers.

  • Advanced courses in information processing education for technical college teachers
  • Technical seminars for technical high school teachers
  • The extension course; "Mini-graduate School After Five"
  • The extension course; "Engineer Training Course"

(4) Support of research and education in the university

The Technology Development Center takes care of expensive measuring devices for common use and conducts short courses in handling these items.

(5) Public offering of research and technology in the university.

The Technology Development Center publishes the following reports on research and technology in the university and distributes them widely:

  • Annual report of the Technology Development Center, Research Center for Chemometrics, and Manufacturing Technology Center, Toyohashi University of Technology
  • The latest research information
