The department focuses on the education and the researches of materials science and engineering. The department comprises the following three divisions to promote the effective implementation of education and researches: (1) Division of Industrial Analytical Chemistry, (2) Division of Industrial Inorganic Chemistry, and (3) Division of Industrial Organic Chemistry. Chemistry always affords an essential basis for the studies of materials science and engineering. In the department, therefore, conducted are the education to promote better understanding on the applied chemistry, and the researches to make greater contributions to advanced materials chemistry. The education and the researches of solid state physics and of biochemistry are also included.
